Is the Coal Mine Collapsing?
I was standing on the Capitol grounds in Washington D.C. listening as Actor Jim Carrey told the thousands standing with me that our autistic children were the “canaries in the coal mine” during the Green Our Vaccines Rally in June of 2008. This was a memorable moment for me.

Thai 'Spider-Man' Saves Boy in Peril "AOL, an older story but it made me smile!"
Thai 'Spider-Man' Saves Boy in Peril

Temple Grandin's New Movie
Temple Grandin's new movie about her life. She is very inspiring!! But, I would pray for my daughter to have her autism and not the non-verbal, diaper wearing one. They need to make a movie about the struggles of severe autism, the tougher unseen side that no one likes to talk about or show. This movie will make the general public think that autism ain't that bad. Why are these parents complaining? Your kid will grow up and get a PhD. I fear that people will get the impression that autism is no big deal. It is!! Let me make this clear, autism is catastrophic and devastating!!

This Blows
While I try to be upbeat and hopeful, there are days I just can't keep smiling. Ronan looks so normal at first glance. Strangers don't understand why he behaves the way he does when they first meet him. It's painful in those moments to either try to explain things to them or to choose to move faster and farther away from them.
Windy Weather
Does your Aspergerchild seem irritated and wound up in windy weather? It's a common phenomena in children with Aspergers and Autism, and is caused from the Sensory problems they experience.
