About Me
I am 30 years old, living in Southern Oregon. I have been married to a wonderful man for nearly 10 years now. Together we share 3 children, our oldest is 24 and made us proud grandparents this last February. Our second child is a 9 yr old girl, who is very active and bright. Fashion Queen in the making. Our baby boy is now 5 years olds, he was diagnosed with Autism just a little over a year ago, and has made tremendous growth in just over a year. He has gone from a frustrated, anger boy to a joyous, helpful little man. We have a large family and friend base with a great understanding of the situation, they are more helpful than one could hope for. I am now a Junior at Eastern Oregon University, focusing on minors in Anthropology/Sociology and Psychology. It is my intention to bring to Douglas County, Oregon a better understanding of Autism, how affects the children, families, and the community. Along with this goal, I hope to establish a non-profit that will be able to help all those affected with Autism in some manner. I like reading, writing, playing games of a wide variety, spending time with family and friends, cooking, and listening to music.
I am hoping to contact with others who have an understanding of Autism, who might be able to give me answers to some of the questions I am sure will come, and also to provide the information and insight I have gained in the last year to those looking for answers themselves.
My daily motivation is my two children, insuring that their future is bright and full of possiblities. With this I hope down the road I can help others with the same questions.
I don't have all the answers in fact I truely believe no one does or will.
But I have done tremendous amounts of research, attended trainings, and spoke with others so I may have an answer to someone questions, or just lend a ear.
Hi Kristi
Let me extend to you my belated personal welcome to our AutismOne Social Network. AutismOne is now the “one-stop-shopping center” for information about autism. We have the annual conference in Chicago, AutismOne radio, the Elizabeth Birt Center for Autism Law and Advocacy and now the AutismOne Social Network (and more to come).
I notice that you’ve not made any entries into your profile. Remember, this is a social network. Part of the function of a social network is to meet and interact with others who have common interests. Of course autism is a common interest. But there is more than that. Individuals like to know about a person before becoming a “friend.” That’s where the profile comes in. So whenever you can find the time, please fill in some of the entries of your profile. To do that just click on “My User Menu” next to the Welcome area on the right. From the resulting menu click on “Edit My Profile” and you will be in business.
Helping you interact with others is one of the many things we can do for you. Now here’s something you can do for us. Log in on a regular basis and read the blogs and articles then write a blog yourself. It can be on any subject of interest to you, preferably with some relevance to autism but not necessarily. It can be short or long, whatever it takes for you to express your thoughts. If you have a question then ask it in a blog--people read then they respond. If you see something with which you agree or disagree then please add a comment with your thoughts. This is an open community designed to help and support. We like to hear all sides.
I am looking forward to reading your opinions in future blogs and/or articles.
With my best regards
Will Price, CFO
