CD-Biotic™ and CD-Herbal™ Help Control Difficult Bacteria
By Jon B. Pangborn, PhD Certified Clinical Nutritionist Fellow, Am. Inst. Chemists Consultant to Kirkman Group, Inc.
Hello Parents and Health Professionals: Every so often, we get lucky and come across an important piece of information that can be put to use to help our children. Last year, I spent a considerable amount of time studying how natural antibiotics and probiotics deal with harmful microbes – the kind that can take up residence in our intestinal tracts. This is what we sometimes call "dysbiosis." Some of these little troublemakers have become quite clever at adapting. They survive our attempts to eradicate them with pharmaceuticals. And it seems like what doesn’t kill them makes them stronger. I found that nature has some answers to this problem. Plants like barberry use a double punch to stay healthy. Invading microbes are hit with both a natural antibiotic plus another substance that disables the microbe’s defense against the antibiotic. Certain herbals, when used in their complete form, have a similar ability to get rid of specific microorganisms. Two of the best herbals for intestinal health are oregano and thyme where complete herbal forms are used. An important helper, one that acts to reduce the stress that results from eliminating dysbiotic flora, is curcumin. Kirkman Labs has combined these herbals into an excellent product for restoring intestinal health – “CD-Herbal™.” Along with natural, herbal antibiotics, come certain probiotic flora, specific ones that have been documented to assist the eradication of undesired organisms while enhancing the beneficial ones. Two species of Lactobacillus are reported to do this – plantarum and rhamnosis. They help along with the assistance of Saccharomyces boulardii. S. boulardii is an amazing yeast that gets rid of other yeasts and then leaves of its own accord. Kirkman® has combined these into “CD-Biotic™,” and I highly recommend its use along with “CD-Herbal™.” The elimination of undesirable flora often is accompanied by a die-off reaction causing nausea and other discomforts. When this occurs, activated charcoal is recommended until the die-off subsides.
Kirkman's New Concentrated Duo
CD-Biotic™ and CD-Herbal™: Powerful Promoters of Gastrointestinal Health
By Larry Newman Chief Operating Officer Technical & Regulatory Affairs Kirkman Group, Inc. CD-Biotic™: A Specialty Probiotic Probiotics are defined scientifically as “living microorganisms that when ingested or locally applied in sufficient numbers can fill one or more specified, demonstrated functional or health benefits on the host.” Probiotics have been called nature's “internal healers” because of their crucial role in the health and functioning of the intestinal tract. Probiotics are actually friendly (desirable and beneficial) bacteria that help keep the flora of the gastrointestinal tract balanced correctly with respect to good and bad organisms. Under certain circumstances and frequently among sensitive individuals, certain strains of bad bacteria become concentrated in the gastrointestinal tract and are very difficult to eradicate using conventional probiotics or drugs. This is especially true if the strain of bacteria is a spore-forming organism. Spores of these types of organisms can lie dormant in the gut following various types of control procedures, only to repopulate when conditions are right. CD-Biotic™ is a specialty probiotic and one of the two parts of a concentrated duo (CD) of products designed to support healthy gastrointestinal flora when certain difficult to control bad bacterial strains are involved. CD-Biotic™ is formulated to be used in conjunction with an herbal product called CD-Herbal™, a powerful blend of herbs that also targets difficult to eradicate strains of undesirable flora. CD-Biotic™ is a blend of three probiotic strains including Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Lactobacillus plantarum and Saccharomyces boulardii. These three strains of good bacteria have a history of supporting healthy gut flora under difficult circumstances. CD-Biotic™ and CD-Herbal™ used together form a concentrated duo that can have a profound impact on gastrointestinal flora, thereby supporting good intestinal health.
Kirkman® recommends that you be under a doctor’s care when using this concentrated duo of products as lab testing may be necessary to evaluate progress and potential dosage changes. It is important when using this duo of products that dosage instructions are carried out accurately. The typical dosage is one CD-Biotic™ capsule one hour before lunch and one more near bedtime (two hours after dinner). The CD-Herbal™ capsules should be taken just before breakfast and two more before dinner. CD-Herbal™ - Hypoallergenic Capsules CD-Herbal™ is a powerful blend of herbal components that support gastrointestinal health by helping control undesirable gut flora. As we have mentioned, under certain circumstances and very frequently among sensitive individuals, certain strains of bad bacteria become concentrated in the gastrointestinal tract and are very difficult to eradicate using conventional probiotics or drugs. This is especially true if the strain of bacteria is a spore-forming organism. Spores of these types of organisms can lie dormant in the gut following various types of control procedures, only to repopulate when conditions are right. CD-Herbal™ is one of the two parts of a concentrated duo (CD) of products designed to support healthy gastrointestinal flora when certain difficult to control bad bacterial strains are involved. CD-Herbal™ is formulated to be used in conjunction with Kirkman’s probiotic product called CD-Biotic™, a specially-formulated probiotic designed to support healthy gastrointestinal flora when certain difficult to control strains have populated the gut. CD-Herbal™ contains thyme, oregano and curcumin (turmeric) herbs, all of which can exhibit inhibitory support on harmful gut flora. It also contains cumin, an herb that stimulates the growth of the probiotic strain Lactobacillus plantarum, which is present in CD-Biotic™ and instrumental in helping crowd out undesirable flora. It bears repeating that Kirkman® recommends that you be under a doctor’s care when using this concentrated duo of products as lab testing may be necessary to evaluate progress and potential dosage changes. As mentioned earlier, it is important when using this duo of products, that dosage instructions are carried out accurately. The typical dosage is one CD-Biotic™ capsule one hour before lunch and one more near bedtime (two hours after dinner). The CDHerbal™ capsules should be taken just before breakfast and two more before dinner.
