Teachable moments

I found this guy hanging out in the door frame of my house trying to stay warm.

I doubt in 40° weather he'll go far from that crack. So, later today I will use interest in him as a "teachable moment" by relating the real world to the book "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" to talk about what happens, encourage reading, counting and speaking.

But he was still hungry...

As a parent/caregiver be hungry, look for such opportunities to relate the world to the  books, videos and games that do get their interest. Then share.

payday loans

With all do respect to you Joshua I would never advise another parent to get a payday loan.

Anything I would be willing to consider for my son would not be something I couldn't wait till the next paycheck to do. Payday lenders are often predatory and count on people not paying them back in full. After that they are hit with extremely high interest rates and what one ends up with are compounded problems.

Anyone considering one should check out this first:

No most of what we would need to do would extend way beyond a few paychecks. Getting into such a payback situation would only compound our problems.
