how do you determine what to throw away when your child is toxic?

I just got the news that Zane has toxic levels (95th percentile) of mercury, lead, alluminum, arsenic, and two others I cant spell. He cant get rid of anything he is exposed to, and we know he has had recent exposure. Does anyone have any experience on how you figure out how to make our envirionment safe for him, is it . Is there anyone that can come to your house and test everything? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated

Detoxing the home

Some things to start with would be looking for direction from the Environmental Health Center - Dallas:

Make sure that you don't have the old lead-containing mini-blinds or cheap plastic imported "furniture" (tables, bookshelves) that contained lead, lead bathtub, lead paint, or arsenic-treated wood. Lot's of moms throw out plastic food storage containers. Others stop using aluminum and nonstick cookware. Avoid tin cans. Many moms make sure they do not use fluoride toothpaste and do not get fluoride treatments at the dentist, as well as avoiding fluoridated tap water or chlorinated swimming pools. Watch out for the dashboard of new vehicles; I never rest food on these in order to avoid mercury. And no chewing on Matchbox cars and Hot Wheels.

I just found this link: http://www.healthygreenpages.com/articles/healthyhome.htm

When we lived back East, I was able to find a company that came into the home and did testing, but I don't see them on the Web now.

Support methylation/detoxification pathways in your child with supplements that he is able to handle, build up his immune system, consider Epsom salt baths or cream, and consider natural chelators under a doctor's care.

Keep on top of what they are using at school, too, such as outgassing of carpets, paint, and cleaning products.

I can't come to your house

I can't come to your house but I can tell you what I have done for my little man. First of all I got rid of all the sheets he owned, I got organic bed sheets, and about 3 months later was able to afford an organic mattress also from Organic Grace.com I got an air purifier for his room, no more Carters clothing for him either cause I know they have a recall on their clothes before for fire retarants and other chemicals in them which are harmful, also mattressses contain lots of fire retardants, so Organic is the way to go. Try to get cleaning agents with natural ingredients, I use 7th Generation products and love Dr Bronners too, they are made from all natural oils,a nd Dr Bronners can be used for just about anything! You can use it as hand soap, shampoo, cleaning agent, laundry detergent, and even brush your teeth with them! Amazing huh? I get mine from New Seasons Market, or Fred Meyers, do u have one of those where you live?

I buy Organic pj's for ALex from Hanna Anderson and some clothes too, not too cheap not to spendy specially if you find an outlet store! GO to their website to find a store, if they don't have one where you live, you can buy onine. Paint free from VOC's is great also, we used that to paint Peanut's room and you cant smell a thing! Unlike conventinal paint which smells horrible : ( Carpeting and glues that they use are also harmful to them so if you can offord to change your flooring options do so, cork florring is the best I have read, but no money to afford it for now in our home : (

What else? ..........
Oraganic Pillow! Organic , Organic, Organic! hope this helps you!
