Sound Therapy
Adventures in Healing Arts- "Singing Bowls"
Having grown up with a Korean mom, the concept of healthy energy flow (or chi) has always played a role in my approach to living. So, when we decided to try helping our autistic son, Justin on a deeper level than just treating his physical symptoms, healing arts made perfect sense to us. After all, healing arts are all about creating harmony between the systems in our bodies- something much lacking autistic children. I’ve been practicing Reiki on my son for some time now, combined with kid-friendly yoga and meditation.

Can Your Child, With Sensory Issues, Learn to Tolerate Holiday Gatherings and Parties?
I love the article below! I think it points out nicely that we, as parents, need to respect and sympathize with our sensory-sensitive children. The fact is, that regardless of how hard it is on us, it's a million times harder on them. It's our responsibility to protect them, respect them, and help them help themselves. It's our responsibility to teach the world about what they are going through, and to understand and honor them. They deserve that! And I think it's selfish to try to make them fit into our "box" of what constitutes "normal" behavior.

Auditory Processing
Many parents hear that their autistic child has auditory processing issues. On my next radio show on autismone radio, on Nov 12th at 12:30 PM, I will be sharing a second show on auditory processing. Please join me at that time. Auditory processing is a higher skill than sound processing, both of which are important components of The Davis Model of Sound Intervention. I look forward to having more of you become listeners.
