Hi Sonya
Let me extend to you my personal welcome to our AutismOne Social Network. AutismOne is now the “one-stop-shopping center” for information about autism. We have the annual conference in Chicago, AutismOne radio, the Elizabeth Birt Center for Autism Law and Advocacy and now the AutismOne Social Network (and more to come).
I notice that you’ve not made any entries into your profile. Remember, this is a social network. Part of the function of a social network is to meet and interact with others who have common interests. Of course autism is a common interest. But there is more than that. Individuals like to know about a person before becoming a “friend.” That’s where the profile comes in. So whenever you can find the time, please fill in some of the entries of your profile. To do that just click on “My User Menu” next to the Welcome area on the right. From the resulting menu click on “Edit My Profile” and you will be in business.
Helping you interact with others is one of the many things we can do for you. Now here’s something you can do for us. Every new community requires a good hard kick start to get going. We need you to help us with that. Log in on a regular basis and read the blogs and articles then write a blog yourself. It can be on any subject of interest to you, preferably with some relevance to autism but not necessarily. It can be short or long, whatever it takes for you to express your thoughts. If you have a question then ask it in a blog--people read then they respond. If you see something with which you agree or disagree then please add a comment with your thoughts. This is an open community designed to help and support. We like to hear all sides.
I am looking forward to reading your opinions in future blogs and/or articles.
With my best regards
Will Price, CFO

A Little About Me:

My name is Sonya Jones. I am 43 years old. I work as a paraprofessional (teacher's aide) at Forest High School in Forest, La. I have 3 sons...Eddie, Ethan & Erik. My husband's name is Donny. We have been married almost 8 years. I also have a Poetry Ministry/Business called "Happy Trails" (that lead home to the cross where Jesus died). I write Christian poems and wholesale them. I also give a lot to people for different reasons. (ex.-berheavement, birthdays, etc.) My youngest son, Erik, was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, as well as ADHD, Developmental Delay, Delayed Audio Development and Reactive Airway Disease (triggered asthma). I have done a lot of Autism research for myself in the past years. Jenny McCarthy is my hero!!! We use a holistic doctor in Baton Rouge for Erik. Her name is Dr. Stephanie Cave. We have done celation and are getting metals out of Erik's body. We have found elevated amounts of lead, mercury and nickel in him. Erik also receives OT, Speech Therapy and APE. We started doing Horse Assisted Therapy this past summer. I am a volunteer for this. It has helped tremendously! We are on the list to begin Hyperbaric Chamber Treatments soon. Erik is a very loving child and according to the Louisiana Dept. of Education evaluation, he does not qualify to be diagnosed "Autistic". I am very aware of the metal in some vaccines and am very much for "greening the vaccines". Erik will not get anymore. He was a perfectly normal child until the age of 18 months, when he received 4 shots at once. After that, he stopped doing anything. By the age of 2, we knew he had been affected by something. I believe that children are getting too many vaccines at once. When the metal in the vaccines connect with metal that is already in their body, this causes the nervous system to overload. I am really looking forward to being a part of this organization and will help in any way I can. I'm not great with a computer, so please bear with me. Thank you and God bless.

Why I am a Part of the AutismOne Community:

See information above.

What I am Here For:
My son Erik. Details above. I want the world to know what is NOT available to special needs children. I also want children to receive the correct amount of vaccines without metal in them. The government says to vaccinate to prevent epidemics, when they are creating an epidemic of Autism.
Autism Help / Accomplishments:

I do a lot of Autism Awareness through my business. I have a support group called "M*O*M*S. (mothers of moral support) My support group is basically done through e-mails, mail, and telephone. This is due to the fact that my son has Autism. I am the mother of a special needs child and want other mothers like me to know that they are not alone. I also want to make them aware of the help they can get through the different services. I live in a small community and have dealth with the medical places here and informed them of the metals in vaccines. Most people I have talked to about Erik, has made sure to be very careful about what vaccines they give their children and when.

My Daily Motivations:

I work in the Resource Room at school with special needs children. This gives me a lot of resources I may never have gotten. My other sons are wonderful and very supporting. My husband and Erik are very close, though Erik is not his biological son. I have received services through Easter Seals and Care Solutions. Our school is a rural school where everybody knows everybody else. Erik has a lot of one-on-one with his teacher, adaptive P.E. teacher, speech therapist and occupational therapist. I just got a sitter for 2 hours a day, who cares for Erik in the evenings, giving me a break. Even though he is not qualified to be "severe", he is a flight risk and doesn't understand danger. My church family is very supportive and offers help. OCDD helped us get a fence around our yard last year. Most of all, God is my strength. He helps me to always look at the positive side of things. My glass is half full, not half empty! I read a lot of Joyce Meyer books, too. Every child is a gift from God and everyone can make a difference. I want to say to all the parents reading this...God give special children to very special parents. You should feel very blessed that YOU are hand picked to guide this special child through his/her journey on earth. "Happy Trails" to all of you, 'til we meet at the cross.

Goals:
My goals are to get Erik completely recovered from his Autism. I want to successfully keep him on his casein-free diet. To reach out to others with special needs children and to write a book about living with a special needs child.
Help Needed:
Any information I can get about Autism, help in my area, mentoring, prayer and support will be deeply appreciated. I want to make others aware of my support group.
Help to Give:

Support through M*O*M*S support group. (prayer, letters, e-mails, phone calls) Mentor someone else who is new at this. Share everything I've been through and learned dealing with a special needs child. Let others know about help I've received. Do any Autism Awareness to public.

For the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding will keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus." "Real courage is being scared to death, but saddling up anyway." by John Wayne.
