Dr. Andrew Wakefield will deliver the keynote address at the Elizabeth Birt Center for Autism Law & Advocacy at the AutismOne/Generation Rescue conference, in Chicago.

It is very fitting because Dr. Wakefield and Liz were great friends. It was a friendship built on mutual respect and trust.

Raised in Chicago and a graduate of DePaul University School of Law, Liz had to travel to the UK to find help for her son, Matthew.

Doctors in and around Chicago told Liz her son’s screams were because he had autism. At the Royal Free, in London, Dr. Wakefield determined Matthew was suffering from an impacted stool. When the stool was removed the screaming stopped.

For the rest of her life Liz supported Dr. Wakefield’s work as well as helping other families and children. Tragically, Liz died in a car accident in 2005.

Unlike every physician in the U.S. Liz turned to Dr. Wakefield listened to her - and by listening helped a mother and child.

On Thursday, May 27 we will have the privilege of listening to Dr. Wakefield and learn more about his work and upcoming projects.
