Detox behaviors??
I need some words of wisdom from parents who have "been there." Our 4-year-old son has been on the GFCF diet for 4 months now, and has shown improvement. In the past 2 weeks I have started to wean him gradually off soy, and have also started to increase the amount of leafy green vegetables (spinach, kale), and other veggies in his diet. I am primarily going with raw foods (fruits and veggies) over cooked.
In the past few days, I am seeing some concerning behaviors, and I am inclined to think they are related to his diet. He is more anxious and tantrums more easily, hyperactive at times, more obstinate (favourite word is "no"), decreased eye contact/attention span and is using alot of nonsense words/ odd sounds in his vocabulary. He is normally very verbal and coherent. On the bright side, his chronic diarrhea seems to be improving.
My questions are, does anyone know if raw foods can cause a die-off of candida? Has anyone else seen similar behavior changes when trying a more raw food based diet? Should I keep going and hope for his symptoms to normalize, or should I back off?
I know this is very likely a healing reaction from detoxing, but it is still very hard to watch. Regression is a scary thing....
