Wines for Autism and how it all started...
WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF WINES AND AUTISM
How it all started...
Two years ago while I was having breakfast with my husband at our local restaurant, a crazy idea dawned on me.
I saw all of these little milk boxes on the tables of customers eating their cereals and I noticed the depressing advertisement of a missing child with his picture and a phone number to contact. Although very depressing to read about another missing child I thought that the concept to help find that child was brilliant. Everybody drinks milk except a few of us for some good reason...
“Why can’t we do the same thing with wine and autism?” two subjects that I am passionate about. I love wine, I hate autism and I can talk about both subjects for hours.
Fortunately, we are conquering my son’s initial autism spectrum disorder diagnosis with biomedical interventions. Although ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) therapy is proven to be very effective when done intensively and under the guidance of a competent consultant, we simply could not afford such a therapy so we had to make a choice and that choice was to heal our son’s body first thanks to our DAN! (Defeat Autism Now!) doctor, Jeff Bradstreet, MD.
From witnessing my son’s significant progress with biomedical interventions I have made it my goal to spread awareness of their effectiveness while supporting non profit organizations. The vehicle I have created to do this is our wine program, Wines for Autism.
Back to the little boxes of milk and off to convincing my husband that same day to have an autism ribbon on the labels of every single bottle of wine. It did not take long to get started, he has created and sold over 300,000 bottles with the ribbon since then.
Now we are making these wines and new wines we discover available to you through this website.
As a stubborn mom who never gives up on recovering her son, I do not take NO for an answer and I hope that I can contribute to making a difference in helping people affected by autism.
