Please contact Congressman Miller's office
Above is the link for the WI report on Restraint and Seclusion, "Out of
Darkness.....Into the Light", and this though quite shocking is a very good
document.
Congressman Miller, the Chair of the House Committee on Education and Labor
that is investigating R & S, has been provided this document. However I've
been told that he is still seeking personal stories and wants to hear
directly from families. The person coordinating this is his Senior Policy
Aide Sharon Lewis and he also has a current Disability Policy Fellow via the
Kennedy Foundation assisting as well, Lisa Pugh, who is a parent of a child
with a disability.
If you have a personal story to share please pass it on to Lisa at
Lisa.Pugh@mail.house.gov. You can also give their office a call at
202-226-365.
I am urging everyone that has had your child subjected to this type of
treatment to please come forward and tell your story. These do not have to
be shared publicly, but thank God for those who did for the WI report.
Though it is shocking, it really makes you wonder how many invisible and
silent victims we have that have not nor cannot share their stories.
Respectfully,
Carolyn Gammicchia
