The film follows a Texan family of three – husband Rupert, wife Kristen, and their four-year old autistic son, Rowan. Rowan is prone to distressing fits and the family found that conventional therapies little or no effect. Then they discovered that Rowan has a profound kinship with animals—particularly horses—and the family set off on a journey to shamanic Mongolia which changes their lives forever. The film also features experts within the field, including Dr. Temple Grandin – subject of the recent HBO biopic starring Claire Danes. In telling one family’s extraordinary story, the film gives voice to the thousands who display amazing courage and creativity everyday in the battle against this mysterious and heartbreaking epidemic. The Autism Whisperer Lynette Louise, brainbody.net is a play/neurofeedback professional. She is a mother, grandmother and performer who travels around the world introducing biofeedback for the brain. Having led 3 of 4 boys she adopted with autism into independent adulthood, she has become a globally respected expert. She motivates parents who face complicated issues such as tantrums/aggression/property destruction; obsessions and compulsions; dietary restrictions, mouthing and PICA (eating non-food items); medications and supplement administration; escape artist/unsafe climbing; toilet training/feces smearing and more. Meet Lynette as she is introduced to and helps a new family each week, starts neurofeedback and spends her time teaching the tools necessary to effectively improve dynamics in the home.
