Candace's Law
I'm trying to get a law passed for children with autism to be able to stay in school on a voluntary basis till age 26 here in Illinois. As it is now they are let go at 21. If children with autism are allowed to stay in school till age 26 then they can be covered on their parents insurance. The autism organizations here in Illinois have told me that this law would ruin the great vocational programs we have in Illinois and will not help me?? Am I missing something here? I'm so confused by this?? No wonder Illinois is 51st worst state in the nation for providing services for children with autism!!! HELP!! Get me out of here!!! Again, I have to do this by myself with no support from anyone!! Please call your state reps and tell them to support "Candace's Law" that Illinois State Senator Delgado is submitting for us!!
They have this law in
I'm talking about kids that are non-verbal and in private schools like Easter Seals that work with autism. I think these kids would fit in better there. Also if they are in school until 26 they stay on their parents insurance. These kids need that!! As I say this would be a option not mandatory. All I'm saying as parents we should keep all our options open? Am I wrong??
They have this law in Michigan we need it all across the nation!! That's my goal!!
Illinois is currently ranked
Illinois is currently ranked 51st out of the 50 states in providing adult services and support
(State of the States)
51st out of 50 Did we drop your State?
I wish so very much my own struggles with my system over here could help you. You know, I think I can cover Virginia’s problems and you more then can cover your own states now we just need to find one from all the other States and I believe we could have one hell of a book to publish.
-Just me 2cents (about all that’s left after 5 hospitalizations and 7 months in residential treatment bills in less then a year)
I except cash, credit, or check to anyone wanting to help!
Lol, ok it at least made me smile typing it. I am not really looking for handouts but never knew I would have paid college tuition 10fold in less than one year. I’m now torn if I should even put going to college. His birthday was yesterday, turning 10. I cant joke with him as I can with others about money because I refuse to have him worry about such things at his age. However it did cross my mind when he asked what he could buy to say you have 6 bills to pick from. I am totally joking and hope no one takes this the wrong way!
Your asking the wrong person
Your asking the wrong person for money!! LoL!! Illinois is 51st in the nation-dead last, including Washington, D.C.-for providing appropriate community services for people with disabilities

Really didn't want you to think I was asking for it. I already know we are all pretty much in the same place. It's so very hard at times for me because I was very good at what I did at my job and no to be like now what? am I really going to give up any goal I had because I have to in order to care for my son. I am holding on to hope but sometimes its just because its a bottle of wine.
