Autism One policy

Autism One respects the intelligence of parents, not only as individuals, but as experts on their children. Parents observe their children 24/7 and have sincere, heartfelt concern for their children's welfare now and into the future. Parents have scoured the research and other literature and attended intensive hours of training sessions to become virtual doctors, nurses, speech therapists, sensory integration therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, educational/behavioral therapists, nutritionists, school administrators, and more. Many parents in the community even come from medical/scientific backgrounds with related degrees and years of experience.

Autism One encourages parents to look at both "sides" of any issue, and we advise them to be under the oversight of an experienced doctor who provides regular medical monitoring, including objective laboratory testing, before undertaking or making any significant change in an individual's regimen. With regard to vaccines: Again, parents are responsible to look at both sides of any question. Autism One upholds the principles of informed consent and choice.

One of Autism One's objectives is to provide information that has helped certain individuals/the public health, but that is not available routinely from mainstream media outlets due to possible vested interests. The Autism One conferences provide presentations on interventions that have demonstrated benefits to at least some individuals and done so safely (e.g., while under medical monitoring).

We believe that:
* Autism is a whole-body condition, and what is going on in various bodily systems (e.g., immune, metabolic, gastrointestinal) affects the brain, cognition, and behavior.
* Investigating underlying physiological conditions and addressing them, as medically appropriate, will yield improvements to behavior and cognition.
* An integrated approach that includes biomedical and educational/behavioral therapies should be researched by families hoping to move their chid(ren) with autism with forward.

**************

Why are so very many children sick? And how, then, do so many children recover? The question is too precious to allow presuppositions of outdated paradigms to constrain our thought. We forge forward with love, courage, altruism, and due diligence.
