At present, many medical practitioners fail to recognize the existence of vaccine injury, sometimes claiming vaccines are 100% safe. Even though the real risk of injury from vaccination is not fully understood, state laws guided by federal policy increasingly mandate vaccines for children. At the same time, some individuals injured by vaccines sometimes do obtain compensation for their injuries through the VICP—a remedy that might otherwise be difficult to obtain through traditional lawsuits.
